Venice is a fabled city that everyone should visit at least once and since it’s surrounded by other cultural centers, you’ll have the opportunity to experience all of them. A river cruise is a wonderful way to explore Venice and its surroundings. Over the course of 6 days, we’ll visit Padua, Ferrara, Verona, the islands of Murano and Burano and Venice itself, using the MS Michelangelo as our home.
Although Venice, and the Veneto region, are known tourist destinations, they attract fewer wine lovers than other regions. It’s a pity since the region produces a wide variety of wines as well in huge quantities. For instance, Prosecco is produced just a few miles outside Venice in Valdobbiadene. And what wine lover hasn’t heard of Soave or Valpolicella? These are produced near Verona, in the Veneto province. Nearby is Lake Garda which produces some outstanding white wines. And a few miles south of Padua are the Euganean Hills with many notable wineries using Bordeaux varieties as their go-to grapes.
